During a deployment, I got slammed non-stop with intense counselings and difficult conversations. The week ended with two suicide reated , one of them being a completion. That sent me spiraling down toward depression with some guilt laid on by my supervising Chaplain (he meant well but the conversation when the other way). I knew I was in trouble when I went to the DFAC and I began looking for inconspicuous corners to avoid talking to Soldiers.
I decided to seek help and spoke offline with Behavioral Health and other BN Chaplains. I even found an excuse to help another Chaplain at another installation just to get away from the situation for a week. After these efforts and more I was able to begin recovery and finished the deployment strong.
