The VISION of the Chap Talk Blog is to create a hub of articles written for Chaplains by Chaplains who are “in the trenches.” We hope to capture the innovative approaches to ministry that Chaplains are using to reach the next generation of Soldiers to bring Soldiers to God and God to Soldiers. We also want to equip Chaplains with perspectives on ministry from the lenses of different faith groups. At the end of the day, we hope to contribute to helping to develop informed, encouraged, and inspired Chaplains to reach their flock creatively and effectively.

We hope to accomplish the above through three main efforts:
1. Development
Development encompasses both the personal development and self-care aspect of ministry but also for the Unit Ministry Team (UMT) to be fully formed and developed. In order to be effective as a UMT, time and consideration must be given for the intentional development of the team.
2. Ministry
Ministry is the output of development. This is where we talk about the ideas and insights into broadening our ministry as well as to provide the perspectives from people outside of your faith tradition. Additionally, this is where we find tools to help with general tasks like invocations, memorials, the word of the day.
3. Collaboration
Chaplains who are able to work with others will easily be able to take their ministries to the next level. The result of effective teamwork will not merely add to ministry but will exponentially multiply the effectiveness of UMTs.
